About the Cell

The SC/ST/OBC/Minority Cell of Samata Degree College is established to promote an inclusive, supportive and equitable academic environment for students and staff belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Minority communities.

The Cell works towards ensuring equal opportunities, awareness of government welfare schemes, academic support, counselling and assistance to eligible students. It also helps address issues relating to discrimination, access to educational opportunities and the overall welfare of students from socially and economically disadvantaged sections.

 

Objectives

1. To promote equality, social inclusion and equal opportunities for all students and staff.
2. To create awareness regarding government scholarships, fellowships and welfare schemes.
3. To assist eligible students in accessing educational and financial support available through government and institutional schemes.
4. To provide guidance and counselling to students facing academic, social or financial difficulties.
5. To encourage students from SC, ST, OBC and Minority communities to participate actively in academic, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
6. To create awareness regarding constitutional safeguards and statutory provisions relating to socially disadvantaged groups.
7. To encourage an atmosphere free from discrimination, prejudice and social exclusion.
8. To facilitate remedial and academic support wherever necessary.

 

Responsibilities of the Cell

1. To monitor matters relating to the welfare of SC/ST/OBC/Minority students and staff.
2. To provide guidance and assistance to eligible students regarding scholarships and other welfare benefits.
3. To disseminate information regarding Government of India, State Government and other statutory welfare schemes.
4. To assist students in understanding eligibility requirements and application procedures for available scholarships.
5. To provide counselling and mentoring support to students whenever required.
6. To encourage students to develop communication skills, personality, leadership qualities and academic competencies.
7. To recommend remedial coaching, tutorial support and academic assistance for students who require additional support.
8. To create awareness regarding constitutional provisions and legal safeguards available to SC/ST/OBC/Minority communities.
9. To monitor and report any instances of discrimination or denial of legitimate educational opportunities.
10. To maintain appropriate records relating to the activities of the Cell.
11. To conduct awareness programmes, counselling sessions, meetings and other welfare-oriented activities.
12. To coordinate with the Principal, Heads of Departments and other institutional committees on matters concerning student welfare.
13. To review the implementation of welfare measures periodically.
14. To meet periodically and whenever required to review the functioning and activities of the Cell.

Activities of the Cell

1. Scholarship and welfare scheme awareness programmes.
2. Student counselling and mentoring sessions.

4. Guidance on scholarship and fellowship applications.
5. Academic support and remedial coaching for students requiring additional assistance.
6. Awareness programmes promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
7. Interaction with students to identify academic and welfare-related concerns.
8. Coordination with relevant institutional authorities for addressing student welfare issues.

 

Meetings

The Cell shall meet periodically and whenever necessary to review student welfare measures, discuss concerns raised by students, monitor the implementation of support mechanisms and plan activities for the academic year.
